Republican Senate Candidate Pinion Blasts McConnell & GOP Establishment

“You can’t believe Chuck Schumer is really destroying America, raise millions of dollars using his name in all of your emails across the country and then send not a dime trying to get rid of him if you actually truly wanted to beat him.”

-US Senate Candidate Joe Pinion (R-NY)

Former broadcaster and college football player turned US Senate candidate Joe Pinion of Yonkers took to WABC radio yesterday to blast Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican establishment. In an interview with Sid Rosenberg on the highly rated morning show, Pinion declared, “We need a wholesale reboot of leadership in the Republican Party. The Republican party leadership has completely left the people that depend on our party behind.”

Pinion challenged Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in New York’s US Senate race last week. Schumer defeated Pinion by a margin of 55.28% to 42.3%. This was the first time Schumer was running for reelection since becoming the Senate Majority Leader. Still Pinion made the race closer than any other candidate who has challenged Schumer despite being outspent nearly forty to one.

Pinion blasted the GOP establishment saying, “The Republican Party did not want to beat Chuck Schumer.” He compared how the Democrats targeted McConnell’s reelection in 2020 while claiming Republicans gave Schumer a pass in 2022. Pinion said that Democrats spent seventy million dollars in a long shot bid to beat McConnell in Kentucky last election cycle. He noted that although not successful against McConnell, the Democrats forced Republicans to divert money from close senate races in other states to defend McConnell’s seat. He surmised that doing so may have helped the Democrats win other US Senate Seats.

Calling into question the Republican establishment’s fundraising practices and credibility, Pinion said, “You can’t believe Chuck Schumer is really destroying America, raise millions of dollars using his name in all of your emails across the country and then send not a dime trying to get rid of him if you actually truly wanted to beat him.”
